Fred Driscoll
Fred Driscoll, 83, of 118 East Maple Avenue, died unexpectedly Thursday afternoon at Bixby Hospital shortly after admittance. Mr. Driscoll was the owner and operator of the Driscoll Service Station at Wolf Creek Highway and U.S. 223.
He was born July 25?, 1888, in Adrian Township. He attended the Raisin Valley Seminary. Mr. Driscoll was married to the former Leona A Fouty on Oct. 1, 1910. She preceded him in death on Dec.. 20, 1953.
A member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mr. Driscoll was also a lifetime member of the Onsted Masonic Lodge, and a former member of the I.O.O.F.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Norma) Hawley of Adrian, a son, Vance Driscoll of Clinton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lynford (Ione) Miller and a brother, Clifford Driscoll, both of Adrian.
In Addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Hardy in October, 1971, and a brother, Dale, on Feb. 20, 1955.
Funeral Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Everiss Funeral Home, with the Reverend William Winch officiating. Burial will be in Lenawee HIlls Memorial Park

Dale R. Driscoll Dies at Hospital
Standard Oil Representative was Native of Adrian
Dale Ross Driscoll of 2732 Bent Oak Road, well-known business man in Adrian for many years, died Sunday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock in Bixby hospital where he had been a surgical patient since Feb. 2. He was 60 years old.
Mr. Driscoll was born in Adrian townwship Oct. 1, 1894, the son of the late Joseph and Mary E Driscoll. After his graduation from Onsted high school in 1911, he engaged in farming until 1914 when he went to Detroit for a time. He later returned to Adrian and after farming a short time entered the army serving in World War I with the First Division when it was sent to Europe.

He began working with the Standard Oil Company in 1919 and continued in different capacities with the company for 32 years. He retired in 1951 because of his health, having a severe heart attach in 1950. His long faithful service with the company was recognized with an appreciation banquet on his retirement. The last few years he has been in the insurance business.
With Mrs. Driscoll, the former Isabel L. Myers whom he married Nov. 29, 1919, Mr. Driscoll trveled extensively in the United States. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church. He was a member of the Eagles lodge, the Elks, and Masons.
Surviving are his widow, Isabel; two brothers, Clifford Driscoll and Fred T. Driscoll of Adrian; two sisters, Mrs. Lynford (Ione E.) Miller and Mrs. Irene C. hardy of East Lansing.
The funeral will be Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Everiss Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert L. McCachran will officiate and the burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.

James H. Converse
MOTLEY -- James H. Converse, 100, Motley, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at the Greater Staples Care Center.He was born Aug. 8, 1900, to Herbert and Etta (Hall) Converse, at their home northeast of Motley. He went to country school and left after the eighth grade to help at home with the farming. At 18, he left home to work on his cousin's farm in southern Minnesota. He also did farm work in Wisconsin and then returned to help his mother farm at Motley. He married Hazel Durst in Rock Island, Ill., and returned to live and farm at George Hall's and his mother's farm. In 1935, he and his wife purchased the farm where they lived for almost 66 years. He raised dairy and beef cattle. After his wife died in 1997, he lived with a daughter and son-in-law in Texas and in Motley until January 1999 when he entered the Staples Care Center.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Colvin, Rockport, Texas; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; two brothers, Ernest Converse, Motley, and Albert Converse, Brainerd.
Six sisters and one brother died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Motley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Hager officiating.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples. Burial will be at a later date.
