My Journey

November 2009

The year is drawing to a close.  Already.  With the holidays now upon us, the remainder of the year will fly by and it will be 2010.  I remember growing up as a kid thinking of how old I would be when the turn of the century hit - I would turn 35 that year.  And now... that was ten years ago.  Already.  Something that seemed so far into the future.  I remember how much fanfare there was around 1976 for the bicentennial.  We went to Florida that year, and Disney World had special events going on for the bicentennial.  The Mackinaw bridge was decorated.  We got special quarters - the original special quarters.

And so it goes.  Genealogy puts it all into perspective.  When I look back at the life of a person, it's sometimes interesting to stop and think of the special events that happened during their lifetime.  The actual signing of the Declaration of Independence.  The Civil War.  Titanic.  Pearl Harbor.  Events that defined generations, and defined families.  Time moves forward, and so must we.  Already.
