My Journey

February 2009

The main thing to talk about in terms of February would be the trip to Myrtle Beach.  OK, so one would probably think that Myrtle Beach in February would be better weather than Michigan in February.  It was, but not by much.

Overall, though, (truth be told), it was a very nice trip.  And I had great company with Sherry and Eliana accompanying me, leaving on the morning of Friday, February 20, and returning on Saturday, February 28 (one day late).  The first day was about getting to Hard Rock Cafe in Louisville - the first of five on this trip, and we made it there right on time.  Eliana, at not quite nine months old, loved the atmosphere - the place was busy and there was lots to see.  My All Access Card got us right in to a table (skipping a 30 minute wait).  After leaving there, it was getting late so we already had a reservation at the Red Roof just south of town.

Saturday we headed on for Hard Rocks in Nashville and Atlanta, with a couple of other stops along the way.  Finally on Sunday we arrived in Myrtle Beach (after driving nearly 1300 miles).  It was cold and windy, but we did avoid the snowstorm that hit back home right after we left.  We spent four nights with Pam & Dick in their two room rental, 4th floor with a view of the ocean.  And we visited another Hard Rock.  Each day gradually got warmer, but we had to leave on Thursday morning, giving us very nice weather for driving home.  We had dinner in Gatlinburg (yes, another Hard Rock - and very enjoyable), and spent the night in Knoxville.  This is also when Eliana managed to get a roto-virus, making the trip home more difficult (and included a hospital stop in Corbin, Kentucky.  She didn't much enjoy the long rides, but this only made it much worse (and added one more stop than anticipated on the way home).

As I mentioned, though, it was a nice trip, and we all enjoyed the sights and our time visiting Pam & Dick.  (They head back this weekend.)
