My Journey:

I thought I was extremely late in entering this month's journey entry, although I just now realized in making the changes that I posted the August entry on September 17, so I guess I am just about on schedule.  It's not that I haven't thought about it over the last couple of weeks, but I guess that now is the time to post my entry.

The biggest thing to mention this month, that I can think of, is the changes to the website.  This can be attributed to one excuse for waiting so long to post my journey entry, because I'll just have to get around to changing this to the new format when I get there, anyway.

So, things settled down enough in September for me to decide on a format for the new look of the website.  I played around with a few things, then ultimately made it look very similar to the changes that I made on the part of the website that I devoted to my house.  I changed the colors of the text and moved a few things around, but then I still thought it looked pretty plain.  I liked the idea of putting the mark of Jan Broersen on the top, then came across the Javascript for the slideshow and decided in incorporate it.  I like the look, but it took a bit of time to figure out how to get it to work with both Internet Explorer and FireFox.  I've only got a few photos there right now, but when the site conversion is done, I can go back and add some more pictures and do some nifty things with it.  The next step in conversion was to make the menu look much better, and to incorporate it in every page.  Similar to the slideshow, I found a site that generated the menu buttons and Javascript to create my menu, then applied the same fix to get it to work in Internet Explorer and FireFox, then for good measure I tried them out with the new browser from Google - Chrome.

So now the process is in place...  just need to spend the time to convert the entire site, page by page, to the new format.  I hope that it is well received.
