My Journey: |

October 2008 I haven't quite figured out what the topic of October should be yet, so I suppose this will end up being a bit of rambling and short on substance. I guess that means the long & short of it was... October was pretty uneventful. On the other hand, the passing of October brings the shocking reality of the approaching end of the year, along with the holidays, falling leaves, and soon... snow. Genealogically (interesting word) I did have some small finds this month, I stopped one day at the local library and after discussing genealogy for some time, finally just started browsing through the historical county history books (from 100+ years ago) in their possession, and did happen to find some Decker biographies listed in several. I've hesitated putting them on the site as of yet, since I have yet to complete the transition to the new site. Sounds like as good of an excuse as any, and does have a ring of truth to it. In looking forward to the (not quite so) distant future, I have begun to line up some interesting travel opportunities for 2009. The first of these is approval to attend a conference in San Francisco next June (into July), which is made all the more interesting since I have received an invite to attend a Decker reunion in Salt Lake City on the two days prior to my intended travel west. I always feel these are opportunities that are just supposed to happen, and it's all too good to pass up. Along with that, I will have the opportunity to visit my sister & brother-in-law in Myrtle Beach this upcoming winter, and it just sounds like a great opportunity (again) to head off to an interesting location that I've never been to. And I should have little trouble finding time to travel at the end of February. Looking forward to an interesting year.
