January 2008 Only one thing to report this month that really (really!) counts. I am a Doctor. PhD. I completed a conference call to defend my dissertation on January 24, 2008 at approximately 2:40 p.m., at the end of which I was for the first time officially called a doctor. What a great feeling of accomplishment. On the flip side, on the evening of January 25, after much drinking and celebration, I wasn't feeling too much, but I was still feeling good. It's a smile that is very hard to wipe off your face. My Doctor's regalia (cap/tam, gown, and hood) have arrived, along with the frame for my diploma. Upon publication of my dissertation shortly, I expect to have the final confirmation that my degree has been conferred. I will be attending the commencement ceremony in Minneapolis this August.
